Cabin Creek Timber Frames

Timber Frame Design & Sales Staff

Design and Sales Staff
Timber Frame Home Design Joe Bell or "Dr. Joe" I am the co-owner /operator of Cabin Creek Timber Frames. I have a number of years of experience cutting and designing timber frames. I now spend most of my time in sales, but try to accompany most of the frames when they are raised.

I was born and raised in Tuxedo, NC. I attended Christ School in Arden, NC before going to the University of NC as a Morehead Scholar. After finishing Medical School there, I interned in New Orleans at Charity Hospital, and then spent two years as a Medical Officer in the US Navy in South Viet Nam, 1967-8 Timber Frame Design - About Cabin Creek Timber Frames, and at the US Naval Hospital, Annapolis, MD, courtesy of Uncle Sam. Then I went back to Chapel Hill, NC for a residency in Anesthesiology. The University Of Colorado School Of Medicine in Denver was my next job in 1974, teaching anesthesiology. I practiced anesthesiology in NC and SC from 1975 to 2005, when I retired. Shortly after Hurricane Katrina inundated the Gulf Coast and New Orleans I traveled with NC Mobile Hospital as part of the relief effort. It was set up in a K-Mart parking lot in Waveland, Mississippi. The hospital, on two 18 wheelers, had two operating rooms, 10 ICU beds, and room for about 100 cots under a tent. In 2009 I accepted a position teaching anesthesia at Wake Forest University Baptist Medical Center in Winston-Salem, NC.

I am still very active in timber framing. When not at the hospital, I enjoy maintaining several of our larger pieces of machinery including the 1928 Tannewitz 36" band saw. I also present AIA approved continuing education on timber framing to architects in the south-eastern United States. Other days I can be found in the sales office at Cabin Creek Timber Frames.

Jo Bell or "Miss Jo" worked as a Registered Nurse from 1974 to 2001. Jo formally joined Cabin Creek when Dr. Joe and I married in December 2001

Jo works in sales and to make sure the financial part of your timber framing process moves smoothly. Dr. Joe and I built our own timber frame dream home in 2005 (click to view). If you would like to contact me, I can be reached at 828-369-5899 ext. 300, or by email at info@cabincreektimberframes.com.

Boss Lady, aka, 'the de mouser' (not really, she never could 'kill' any thing, but she watched it REAL closely. Moths, spiders, etc... ) Boss Lady, retired from Cabin Creek Timber Frames after six years on the job. She now spend her days lounging around Deer Chase, testing all the beds for softness, watching the chipmunks, squirrels, gold-finches, cardinals , turkey and deer from the many windows and French doors. .but mostly ascertaining the level of her food bowl.
